Hey Fools! Hope you're all doing well. I recently attended the first Premier Challenge in Pretoria and managed to come third. I had a lot of fun, and I used a team that I really liked. In hind sight I would liked to have made some changes, but I'll come back to that towards the end of this post.

Here's the team:

Mamoswine @ Icicle Plate
Ability: Thick Fat
Jolly nature
252 Speed / 252 Atk / 4 HP (or something really similar tbh)
- Icicle Spear
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Protect

Mamo was a pretty cool Pokemon to have on the team. It really handles Lando-t well, and Thundurus can't touch it. Icicle Plate wasn't that bad a choice, but Life Orb would have been preferred. However, my Hydreigon was using that item. I did not opt for Choice Scarf, as Mamo can't handle Landorus-T as well as it ought at -1 Attack without an item boosting Mamo's Attack. Mamo outspeeds Adamant non-Scarf Lando-T, and pretty much every Thundurus-I. And certain Kangaskhan too, which is really great! I woudln't use Mamo again, since I don't feel like it does enough in certain instances to warrant using it over something like Lando-T.

Mawile @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate → Huge Power
Adamant nature
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
- Iron Head
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Protect

Mega Mawile is something I haven't used since around February. Playing Mawile in a more matured ORAS season is a bit more difficult than it was earlier on when people weren't entirely sure what worked well together. Mawile hits hard, but also gets hit pretty hard. It being so slow is a real pain too. I wouldn't use Mawile again if I could turn back the hands of time! Lol

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Modest nature
252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 HP
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Earth Power
- Protect

Hydreigon, Entei, and Mawile have really good switching synergy which is something I wanted this team to have. It didn't work out as well as anticipated, but the synergy was definitely there. I think the other team members let me down to be honest in that regard. Earth Power helps handle Heatran well-ish. I stil can't believe my misfortune with Draco Meteor in the tourney. The one time it HAD to connect, it didn't. But oh well.

Entei @ Leftover
Ability: Pressure
Jolly nature
252 Speed / 148 HP / 100 Atk / 4 Def / SpD
- Sacred Fire
- Stone Edge
- Substitute
- Protect

Entei was by far the MVP of this team, and it has subsequently become my favourite Fire-type Pokemon. I had some incredible luck with Stone Edge hitting. It didn't miss once throughout the entirety of the tournament (if memory serves).

I'm not exactly sure of the EV spread, but it's the spread Ray used in his “CHALK-bored” Youtube episode. Sacred Fire is absolute power. What a great move indeed. The chance to inflict burn is honestly what makes this move. I have seen quite a few Entei of late running WoW, but that wasn't even a consideration for me, to be honestly.

Jolly nature is ideal for Entei, as it allows Entei to, at worst, speed tie with Kangaskhan and potentially get a burn onto it with Sacred Fire. Also, being able to outspeed Assault Vest Lando-t is pretty handy too.

It's a damn shame it has Pressure as an ability, since it's really quite garbage, since most sensible opponents would max out PP.

10/10 would use again.

Milotic @ Maranga Berry
Ability: Competitive
Bold nature
252 HP / 156 Def / 4 SpA / 4 SpD / 92 Speed
- Icy Wind
- Scald
- Recover
- Protect

I'ver used Milotic quite a lot recently, and for good reason too. It's just so damn strong at what it does. It really makes life tough for Lando and Heatran. It outspeeds -1 Speed neutral nature base 100s.

Thundurus @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster
Bold nature

- Taunt
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- HP Ice

Same Thundy I've used for a loooong time. Causes kaka for the opposing Pokemon.

All in all, I had a lot fun using this team. I would change out Mawile for Mega Metagross, however, as the lack of speed with Mawile was a major issue for me. For once I didn't use a Landorus!!! I'm so proud. And for this particular team, I would have used Ludicolo over Milotic, as the Fake Out really helps getting a good switch in, and putting board position in your favour.

We've got a PC tomorrow, so I'll hopefully have that team posted up shortly.
